About Steady Digital

Hi, I’m Darryl.

I look after WordPress websites for small business owners and non-profit managers who would rather focus on their work than their website.

Nearly 30 years in the graphics and web world

I started in the printing industry in the nineties — back when the web was new and nobody quite knew what to make of it. I was curious, so I started building websites part-time in 1996 while the graphics world was changing around me.

In 2009 I made a deliberate choice to focus on WordPress. Not because it was the easiest option, but because it offered the right balance of flexibility, reliability, and accessibility for the kinds of clients I work with — small businesses and non-profits who need a professional website without enterprise-level complexity. More than fifteen years later, that choice still holds up.

Today I run Steady Digital from Langley, BC, where I look after a small roster of clients who want their website to stay current, secure, and accurate — without it consuming their time or attention.

Small roster. Big attention.

I deliberately work with a small number of clients. That’s not a limitation — it’s how I make sure every site I look after gets proper attention.

When you email me, you’re not opening a support ticket. You’re reaching someone who knows your site, remembers your last conversation, and will get back to you the same day.

Something I hear regularly: clients appreciate my attention to detail, timely communication, and responsiveness. Those three things are what I try to deliver, every month, for every client.

I’m easy-going and straightforward to work with. I won’t drown you in technical language or upsell you on things you don’t need. If something’s wrong with your site, I’ll tell you plainly and fix it. If something’s working well, I’ll leave it alone.

Attention to detail

Good work shows in the small things. Clean code, accurate content, correct grammar — these aren’t extras, they’re the standard.

Responsive support

When you send something, you hear back. No ticket queues, no chasing. Just a real person who knows your site.

Quiet consistency

The best care plans are the ones you don’t notice — because everything is just working, every month, without drama.

Why I do what I do

I could work with other platforms. I’ve looked at many of them. But WordPress remains the most flexible, widely supported, and cost-effective option for the kinds of websites my clients need — and after fifteen-plus years working inside it every day, I know it well.

Specializing in one platform means I can go deeper rather than wider. I know where things break, how to prevent it, and how to fix it when it happens. That depth is what you’re paying for — not a generalist who’ll figure it out as they go.

One of the challenges with WordPress becoming so popular is that there are many options – page builders like Elementor, themes, plugins, and add-ons. Again, I’ve worked with many. That means if I’m not familiar with your exact configuration, I’m confident I can figure it out. After a few months of getting to know your organization’s needs, I can make recommendations to streamline your WordPress configuration.

My roots are in the printing industry — packaging, branding, production, press-ready files. That background shapes how I think about visual detail and why I care about things like typography and layout even on a website. It also means existing clients occasionally ask for print support, which I’m happy to provide.

But the core of what Steady Digital does today is WordPress. That’s where my focus is, and that’s where I do my best work.

I’ve always been drawn to work that involves care and precision — which is probably why I ended up in both graphics and web. The details matter to me. Clean code, accurate content, correct grammar. These aren’t things I have to remind myself to check; they’re just how I approach the work.

Outside of client work, I’m making space for writing — the slower, more reflective kind. It’s a reminder that good communication isn’t just about getting words on a page; it’s about getting the right words, in the right order, for the right reader. That instinct carries into how I look after websites too.
