Highlights from this Month’s Collection of Tips and Resources to Inspire Creative Small Business.
This month features Adobe Photography Plan, packaging trends, print mistakes, and networking tips.
Awesome Adobe Resources
Creatives: are you using Adobe Behance to showcase your awesome work?
Adobe recently announced their new Adobe Photography Plan for just $10/month.
Cool Packaging Concepts
Some nice packaging examples (expired link). But I especially like the “5 Factors to Consider When Designing a Package.”
I have already been seeing these Four Packaging Trends and love them. Overall, they reflect a desire for simplicity, creativity, and reduction in environmental waste. Interesting that “authentic” packaging means “shedding a corporate image for a more welcoming style.”
Design for Print Resources
If you are preparing files for print, you can usually leave the technical details for your printer to work out in prepress. But there are a few details that you can pay attention to to help the printing process go more smoothly.
A nice simple reminder to keep the message simple. It’s too tempting to add multiple messages to packaging or marketing pieces.
Productivity Tips and Tools
Even if you are not part of a regular networking group, this list of tips is a good reminder for any business meeting.
I’ve been reading a bit about design for social innovation lately, and then came across this article, which is a brief reminder to keep your customers and their needs in mind as you do your marketing. In thinking about defining your target market, I like the way the author encourages us to think about customers as individuals, not as targets: “Can you see the face of your customer?”
That’s all for this month. If you have tried any of these tips, or if you have anything to add, please use the Comments section below.
